Glimmering Mark?
I have been getting a little bored with all of the overly common ele nuking and utility builds out there and was just thinking of messing around with glimmering mark and other air magic builds.
I was thinking maybe arcane echo > glimmering mark and other nuking skills. Help me out a little please.
I don't much care if its the most efficient or viable, just looking for something fun but not totally useless.
Thanks.

I like that attitude, most people play for most effective, then they get bored and quit the game. If they rather change their thinking of going for most fun than most effective, they would still be playing.
Now back to Glimmering Mark, how about...
Daze and Glimmer - A caster is constantly interrupted by Glimmer. Might be a good monk neutralizer while you take out the damage dealers.

Same as you said, infact i always try to use personal builds, especially in pvp...
I think (not sure) that after the Glimmering Mark update, i was one or maybe the first using this skill in pvp with my ele..
BTW: Do you mean to use that in pvp or pve? it's totally different.....
I used to use it in pvp combined with: Shell shock--->Blinding flash----> Glimmering Mark against attackers + Conjure Lightning on the axe.
Is a bit imbalanced but: if noone removes both blinding and glimmering mark you can really do many dmg combined with axe attacks with Conjure Lightning and 9 attributes points in Axe. Since then everyone and mostly mesmers began to use GM combined with Illusion of pain....reappling both before they end!
PVE: not so good imo.....even if it's armor ignoring it's a wasted Elite. Maybe for boss farming? Blinding flash+ Ebon Stendard+ By Ural's Hammer + Glimmering mark?......you can maybe farm a single boss like Reefclaw Ragebound in Gyala Hatcery explorable area, since he is alone....

What would be an effective daze for an ele to use?

For PvE, Techno Babble at Rank 8 Asura would give 5 seconds,
that should be plenty of time to shut down a monk while killing it's allies.
For PvP, that's a tougher cookie since we already used our elite, most of which would take you within half or melee range. Now if you're a PBAE that might be fun, but since Glimmering Mark is air, that's not viable.

Uhm you're right, thought it interrupted on any damage but turns out it's only from attacks. Oh well, scrap the Glimmer/Daze idea.
Then only viable use I could see for Glimmering Mark would be against foes with high armor levels, foes that you can kite while dotting them to death. Possibly some mesmer degen skills, finish with Glimmer. Conjure Nightmare perhaps.

I use the following build in RA, it's kinda gimmick but fun to play imo:
OgljgsMapSgVjCdDLgagAZjDCAA
Glyph of Restoration
Whirlwind
Conjure Lightning
Shell Shock
Chest Thumper
Barbed spear
Glimmering mark [elite]
Res sig
Lightning spear and you're set. Saw this build in RA so i don't take credit, but i tried it and it's really fun and kinda works nice if you play it well.

I've been trying to think of anything to run using Glimmering Mark, but tbh I can't. The whole deal that it ends if you use another skill that targets that foe sucks. I don't like the fact that I can't cover it myself and that I have to revolve a whole build around a skill that can be removed easily.
